Carew nature walk hand over
Carew Community Council has secured a 25-year lease on the Milton Marsh Nature walk from Dwr Cymru Welsh Water. The official hand-over will be on April 17 at 11:00 am near the Water Works.
Welsh Water previously allowed the land to be used for public access under a licence agreement with the community council.
Over the years, the walk has been maintained and looked after by John and Rosemary Thomas.
Local Welsh Water operational manager Phil Jenkins commented: "We are glad that we have been able to grant this lease at a nominal sum to help the local community to secure a lovely nature walk and make improvements to add to its enjoyment by the public."
Some work has already been done to upgrade the site with the help of local resident Tim Jones, of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and a group of volunteers.
The walk connects to a network of public rights of way in the area and assist in people walking from the National Park footpaths into the county council maintained paths.
It is hoped that through partnership working, the area will be further enhanced and act as a site of community focus in the future.
